Options to get to Melbourne Airport by train and bus.

Option 1: SkyBus from Southern Cross

SkyBus operates a fast and frequent bus from the Southern Cross coach terminal in the west end of Melbourne CBD. Adult fares are $24.90 (one way) as of early 2026. Journey time is 35-50 minutes, and the bus drops passengers at T3 (a short walk to T4) and T1 (a short walk to T2).

This is the fastest option for those staying in Melbourne's city centre. Southern Cross connects to every metropolitan and regional train line in Victoria, and has multiple tram routes serving the station. Tram journeys are free in the city centre as part of the Free Tram Zone.

Option 2: SkyBus from Sunshine Station

SkyBus also operate a shuttle bus from Sunshine station in Melbourne's west. For passengers closer to Sunshine station, this is a good option.

Journey time is 30 minutes to Melbourne Airport, and the base adult fare is $17 one way. This may be a faster option for those catching a connecting train on the Cranbourne-Pakenham-Sunbury line through Melbourne's new Metro Tunnel, or for those connecting to Ballarat or Geelong V/Line services.

Option 3: 901 Bus from Broadmeadows

Free for those who have already arrived at Broadmeadows by train, the 901 bus operates within the Victorian daily fare cap.

With a journey time of 20 minutes, this is a good option for those accessing the airport from train stations on the Craigieburn line, or for Seymour, Shepparton or Albury V/Line passengers. Buses depart every 15-30 minutes, and run to Melbourne Airport T4; a short walk to T3 and then onto other terminals by foot.
